Bathroom Renovation, North Street

A former bedroom transformed into a modern his-and-hers en-suite, combining everyday function with the character and permanence expected in a heritage home.

Project overview

Turning an old bedroom into a refined private en-suite.

The North Street project began with a simple brief: convert an old bedroom into a modern en-suite that felt permanent, practical and connected to the original home. The finished room now includes a bath, toilet and twin basins, with enough visual restraint to feel calm and enough detail to reward a closer look.

A 2.7m Italian feature-wall tile supplied by Italia Ceramics gives the space its scale and texture, while the checkerboard heritage-style floor tile keeps the renovation grounded in the character of the house. The dark ceiling and full-height tiled forms add depth without making the room feel overly decorative.

The specification was built around long-term use: premium fittings by Meir, custom cabinetry by Aldon Cabinetmakers, lighting by Allera Light, and architectural design by Swanbury Penglase. Every element was selected to support the same standard: traditional skills, modern standards, built once and built right.

What we did

A bedroom conversion built around function, finish and longevity.

Creating a new en-suite inside an existing room requires careful planning. Services, waterproofing, joinery, tile set-out, lighting and fittings all need to work together before the finishes are installed.

Converted the room layout

The old bedroom was reworked into a complete en-suite with a bath, toilet, shower zone and twin vanity, giving the home a more functional private bathroom.

Balanced modern and heritage detail

The large-format feature wall and contemporary fittings were paired with a heritage-style floor tile, allowing the new room to feel fresh without losing connection to the original home.

Coordinated premium finishes

Cabinetry, lighting, tapware and tile selections were installed with close attention to alignment, proportion and durability, so the finished en-suite feels resolved from every angle.
